This page explains how to request deletion of your Lingua News account and the data associated with it.

How to request deletion

Send an email to linguanewsapp@gmail.com with the subject Delete my account, sent from the Google account you use to sign in to Lingua News.

Sending it from that same address is how we confirm the request is really yours — we do not ask you for a password. You do not need to include anything else in the message.

We will delete your account and confirm by email within 30 days of receiving the request.

What gets deleted

Everything we hold that is tied to your account:

Your sign-in identity — the name, email address and account ID we received from Google Sign-In.
Your learning profile and progress — display name, chosen interests, learning and native language, level, streak and streak freezes, diamonds, kudos, badges, and the number of lessons completed.

This data is removed from our systems (Google Firebase) and is not recoverable afterwards.

Data on your phone

Lingua News also keeps a copy of your profile, saved vocabulary and recent lessons locally on your device, so the app works offline. This never leaves your phone except as the progress sync described above. It is removed when you sign out inside the app, or when you uninstall Lingua News.

What is kept, and for how long

Anonymous usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) — counts of app opens, lessons started and completed, and similar events, together with device type and app version. These are aggregated and not linked to your identity, so they cannot be traced back to you or removed individually. They are retained for up to 14 months.
Nothing else is retained. We do not keep a backup copy of your profile after deletion.
